A Message From Our Executive Director

Dear Friends and Artists,

The arts have it! GJAC is the official local arts agency for the City of Jackson and Hinds County. For over thirty five years, we’ve been working in partnership with artists, arts organizations, corporate partners, government entities, and neighborhoods to support and promote cultural opportunities for all.

Our Website is a moving bulletin about our work, plus a connector to ask questions, make suggestions, and interact with us on Facebook and Twitter.

This year is bound to be exciting and busy. There’s our Creative Empowerment Series, back-to-back bookings in our Arts Center of Mississippi exhibition spaces, more concerts in the High Note Jam series, Food Truck Fridays, plus many grants going out the door to fund community projects.

Thank you for visiting and please take a moment to add your email address to our subscription list. Alerts go out periodically to spotlight free concerts, exhibitions at the Arts Center, and other events.

Wishing you cultural enrichment and artistic inspiration . . .

Janet Scott, Executive Director

About GJAC

The Greater Jackson Arts Council is a private nonprofit organization with a mission to value diversity by increasing cultural access and opportunities through grant offerings, special events, venue management and arts marketing. The agency was founded in 1979 and serves Jackson and Hinds County in Mississippi.

Our flagship program is our Culture Grants initiative, which offers revolving funding (with no matching requirement) in the following categories: Major Programs, Arts Education/Arts Therapy, Individual Artists, Neighborhood Arts and Micro Grants.

As artistic managers of the Arts Center of Mississippi, we produce a full calendar of exhibitions by local artists, manage rentals of the facility’s public spaces to create a low-cost downtown venue option for community events and raise funds for the improvement and maintenance of the Arts Center.
