The Greater Jackson Arts Council is thrilled to present ELIZABETH GILBERT as the superstar headliner for our 3rd annual Creative IMPACT Luncheon.
We launched this signature event in 2017 with Kickstarter CEO/co-founder, Yancey Strickler, and last year we welcomed Orange is the New Black author, Piper Kerman.
Now get ready for a true cultural phenomenon: Elizabeth Gilbert’s article for GQ about her bartending experience on New York’s Lower East Side became the inspiration for the movie Coyote Ugly. But it was her 2006 memoir Eat, Pray, Love that rocketed Gilbert into the stratosphere of writers and thought leaders. That book spent 199 weeks on the bestseller list, has sold over 12 million copies to date, and was made into a feature film starring Julia Roberts. Time magazine even hailed Gilbert as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.”
What came next was Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, her searingly honest take on the nature of creativity, process, and inspiration that became a TED Talk sensation and an instant artistic bible and lifeline for creatives of every discipline.
For her first appearance in Mississippi, Elizabeth Gilbert will take the stage for GJAC Creative IMPACT 2019, directly on the heels of her highly anticipated new novel release, City of Girls. A rollicking change of pace, this new novel is a 1940s period drama about sex, love, and adventure set in the New York theatre world.
