Features Overview

GJAC's Grants for the Arts Program is our flagship service offering. Since the agency's inception, we have dispersed more than $4 million throughout the Jackson area to support cultural projects in all disciplines. We typically issue 80-100 grants per year.

Cultural Programs

The cultural programs grants aim to assist performances, exhibitions, festivals, and special collaborations. Only eligible arts groups and organizations with non-profit status can apply for this grant. The award size is up to $2,500. The deadline for the application is April 30, 2017, and November 15, 2017.

Arts Education

Arts Therapy

The arts education/arts therapy grant aims to assist arts education outreach, art therapy programs, and programs giving arts instruction and exposure to special needs groups. Only eligible arts groups, K-12 school and colleges, and organizations with non-profit status can apply for this grant. The award size is up to $2,000. The deadline for the application is April 30, 2017, and November 15, 2017.

Creative artist

The creative artist grant aims to support the creation of new bodies of work for public benefit, skill development for emerging artists, and promotion of events and showcases. Only individual artists are eligible to apply. The award size is up to $1,500. The deadline for the application is April 30, 2017, and November 15, 2017. 

Neighborhood Arts

Award Size: Up to $500
Deadline: Accepted throughout the year
Examples: Block festivals focusing on the arts, public venue-based cultural events targeting children or special groups.

Micro Grants

Award Size: Up to $500
Deadline: Accepted throughout the year
Examples: Art supplies, emergency expenses for events, speaker and performance fees, conference booking and travel for professional development.
